With over 100 years combined experience in estate and antique jewelry, it just made sense for four friends and longtime associates to form their own company. Richard Mampe Sr., Max Weiner, Jeffrey Zayas, and Joseph Cileone founded Beneficial Estate Buyers in 2007 as a full service estate jewelry company, specializing in estate jewelry buying events and trunk shows. Based in the heart of Philadelphia’s storied Jewelers’ Row, BEB works with retailers across the country to produce unique events that are beneficial to both retailers and their customers.
THE PARTNERS
Max Weiner, G.G., Partner
Max began his retail jewelry career at a store in Maryland while he studied marketing at the University of Maryland. After graduation, he became a Graduate Gemologist and moved to New York City, where he met his future partners in Beneficial Estate Buyers. It wasn’t long before Max returned to the Philadelphia area to eventually become a founding partner of Beneficial Estate Buyers.
Richard Mampe Sr., Partner
Richard has over 35 years of experience in the jewelry industry. His career began when he was a teenager working in an antique jewelry and silver store. Richard became a partner, introducing Joseph Cileone to the business. Over the course of his career, Richard has developed a broad network of private clients and jewelry dealers.
Joseph Cileone, Partner
Joseph began his career in the jewelry industry while working in Richard Mampe’s retail store. A graduate of Temple University, Joseph traveled extensively as an estate jewelry buyer while living in New York City. To learn more about the wholesale business, Joseph worked as a sales representative for a major bridal jewelry brand for three years. He soon returned to the world of estate buying, quickly becoming an expert in United States coins.
Jeffrey Zayas, G.G., Partner
Jeffrey began his jewelry career while he was still a teenager, and soon began working as a bench jeweler. Wanting to learn more about diamonds and gemstones, Jeff earned his Graduate Gemologist diploma after graduating from the University of Rhode Island. He moved to New York and began traveling the country buying estate jewelry and diamonds. Jeff returned to Vermont and continued buying estate jewelry, eventually joining Max, Joe, and Rich in the Beneficial partnership.
Tim Ottmann, Buying Consultant
Tim comes to Beneficial with years of experience owning and operating his own retail store. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of all things jewelry with his clients at buying events.
Richard Mampe Jr., G.G., Buying Consultant
Richard has been involved with the jewelry industry his whole life. His father, Richard Sr., introduced him to jewelry at a young age, and under Richard Sr.’s diligent mentor-ship, the two worked side by side in his father’s jewelry store in Philadelphia. Richard Jr. has been working with his father ever since.
